The highly-productive Parfianka Pomegranate is a Wolfskill-Dr. Levin selection tree with highly praised, excellent flavored fruits. It is a Central-Asia native belonging to the Punicaceae family, along with all other Pomegranate varieties, and bears dependable harvests in the fall along with a gorgeous burst of bright orange-red flowers in the summer. This vigorous fruiting tree can act as an evergreen in warmer climates or lose its leaves in the cold, requiring 150-200 chilling hours.
Growing roughly 10-15 ft. in the wild, the Parfianka Pomegranate can be pruned to maintain a confined space, making it an excellent choice for growing in a container.Â
Large, juicy fruits bear thick, hard exteriors which encase bursts of rich, sweet, slightly acidic fruits of ruby red fleshed arils. Eat them out of hand or juice them, they’ve been said to have benefits for the heart and immune system. Juice from the seed pulp contains compounds known as polyphenols (micronutrients from certain plant-based foods that are packed with antioxidants and potential health benefits.) A low calorie snack with high nutritional value, each morsel awaits with antioxidants and antimicrobial properties!Â
