The Biew Kiew Longan is a variety from Thailand that’s well-suited for growing in subtropical regions with cooler winters. It has a supreme quality fruit with a stronger caramel flavor and smaller seed than most other Longan varieties.
Longan is a tropical fruit tree native to Asia and has been introduced to tropical and sub-tropical regions throughout the world. The delicious Longan fruit has a sweet butterscotch-like flavor and, when in season, is a staple fruit at Asian supermarkets and produce stands.Â
Much like its close relative Lychee, the Longan’s glossy, dark evergreen leaves emerge from its symmetrical branches, soaking up the sun and growing vigorously in any subtropical or tropical climate. Longan trees are beautiful in any landscape. The fragrant creamy yellow flowers are held in panicles and are very attractive to pollinators. Longan fruit grows in large drooping clusters and, once fruiting, you will never be in short supply of this delicious summer treat.
